The Owerri Zone Political Forum’s Aboh Mbaise chapter (Ozopolf) recently paid a courtesy visit to the APC Aboh Mbaise Apex Leader, Chief Charles Ogu. During the visit, the group unanimously passed a vote of absolute confidence in Governor Hope Uzodinma and Barr. Iheukwumere Alaribe, the Executive Chairman of Aboh Mbaise.
Speaking at the gathering, Chief Charles Ogu emphasized the importance of strategic political calculations, unity among all stakeholders in the group and the need for continuity in governance. He maintained that preserving the governor’s legacy was crucial for sustained development.
According to him, Ozopolf should expand its membership beyond Owerri Zone to include Okigwe and Orlu Zones in preparation for the 2027 Imo governorship election. He stressed that the nine local government areas in Owerri Zone alone can not secure victory in the election. He urged the group to build strong alliances across the state, reinforcing the principles of the Charter of Equity.
Chief Ogu pledged to work with Ozopolf, provided they remained committed to the Charter of Equity and supported any governorship candidate endorsed by Governor Hope Uzodinma from Owerri Zone. He also underscored the necessity of unity among party members to achieve their political aspirations.
Earlier, the forum’s coordinator, Nze Julian Nwaogu, highlighted Governor Uzodinma’s remarkable achievements across various sectors, including healthcare, education, infrastructure, and youth empowerment. He noted that the governor’s “Recovery, Rehabilitation, and Reconstruction” agenda had brought significant democratic dividends to the people of Imo State.
The forum specifically lauded the near-completion of the Owerri-Mbaise-Umuahia road, a development expected to boost economic activities in the area. This road, according to Nwaogu, will be particularly beneficial to the predominantly farming community of Aboh Mbaise, as it will facilitate the transportation of agricultural produce to urban markets. He reiterated that the forum’s mission was to advance the political success of Owerri Zone, which could only be achieved through unwavering support for the governor.
In addition to expressing confidence in Governor Uzodinma, Ozopolf also passed a vote of absolute confidence in Barr. Iheukwumere Alaribe. The motion was moved by the forum’s secretary, Hon. Ogechi Ebegu, and seconded by Mrs. Ndidi Njoku. Hon. Ebegu commended the chairman for fostering a conducive political environment that enabled Ozopolf to operate effectively in Aboh Mbaise.
According to Hon. Ebegu, “Barr. Alaribe has demonstrated exceptional leadership as the Executive Chairman. His commitment to peace and stability in Aboh Mbaise has yielded positive results, and his contributions to education, capacity development, and infrastructure are highly commendable. Furthermore, his dedication to transparency and accountability is evident in his administration’s governance approach.”
The Supervisory Councillor for Finance, Budget, and Planning, Hon. John A. Ikewe, also praised Barr. Alaribe’s leadership style, describing him as a “Godsend” who allows his team to execute their duties without undue interference.
This overwhelming vote of confidence underscores the strong leadership and vision of Governor Hope Uzodinma and Barr. Iheukwumere Alaribe. It reflects the trust and appreciation of the people of Aboh Mbaise in their leaders and is expected to further strengthen their resolve to continue fostering development in the region.
