The state youth, zonal and the 27 youths leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party in Imo State have described the National Secretary of the party, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu as a blessing to the party, and vowed to stand behind him in any situation.
The youths led by the state youth leader, Hon Eburuaja Ndubueze made this disclosure on Thursday when they visited Senator Anyanwu at his Owerri residence.
According to Hon. Eburuaja, “Samdaddy has not only shown capacity in defence of PDP from been divided, but has demonstrated excess prowess that he believes in the success of the party.”
He said, “Your leadership has united the party in Imo state, no wonder every issue of division and faction have faced off. Imo PDP youths were carefully chosen as great and trusted party faithful. Our joy is that no youth leader as of today in Imo state is a saboteur. Therefore, the youths are happy with the level of your open door policy and accessibility”.
Hon Eburuaja expressed happiness on the working relationship existing amongst the youth and the National Secretary of the party, and promised to resist any external influence aimed at destabilizing the party in the state.
Responding, Senator Anyanwu expressed delight on the level of support accorded to him by Imo PDP youths before, during and after the legal fireworks, and assured them of his readiness to partner with them.
He said, “My joy knows no bound that our party youth leaders stood by me during the minor inhouse misunderstanding in our party. I am ready to work with all of you but we must be sincere, dedicated and willing to serve our people”
Senator Anyanwu further told the youths that despite the efforts of mischief makers to force PDP to join coalition, the party was able to resist the pressure and insisted that it must remain alone as a party.
According to him, “PDP is too big to merge with other parties, what is important is for other political parties to subsume itselves into PDP. This is important for their existence, but expecting our party to join the coalition is an exercise in futility “
Anyanwu therefore called on the youth leaders not to allow the minor misunderstanding in the party at the national level to deter them from supporting the party, adding that the party is well prepared and positioned like never before to win the 2027 election in the state.
“As youth leaders, you are not working for me, but you are working for yourselves. Your group should not be divided with lies and gossip. As the youth leader of our party in Imo state, please, ensure that everyone is carried along.”
Continuing, Senator Anyanwu said that PDP has the capacity to win election in Imo state, and warned against any act of redundancy that is capable of reducing the strength to obtain victory.
In their separate speeches, Southeast Organizing Secretary, Hon Mike Ahumibe and a notable youth leader in the state, Hon Jude Opara (Shapume) commended the youths for working as a united front, and urged them to do everything possible to sustain peace and unity of members.
While describing them as “Defense Ministers” of the party, the two leaders charged them to embark on sensitization tour to be able to woo members into the party ahead of the 2027 elections in the state.
