The People of the South East appeared to have listened to advice of their leaders by boycotting the first day of the nation wide protest termed” protest against bad Government in Nigeria.
Investigation carried out by Lead revealed that the People of South East instead of taking part in the said protest rather observed the sit at home directives issued by the leadership of the IPOB.
Those who did not seat at home were seen playing football on major Roads, particularly the youths.
In Owerri the Imo State Capital, the Markets were closed down, including Shops on the major Roads while the Youths were seeing playing football ball on the major Roads,Lead gathered.
In Anambra State, the major markets,such as Onitcha Main Market and Nnewi were closed down while Security agencies were parading within the areas.
It would be recalled that the Governors of South East had before the date of the Protest, appealed to Igbos to stay away from such act.
Aside the Governors, the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo Youth Council also appealed to Igbo people to stay away from the planned protest.
Addressing the Igbos, the Deputy speaker, House of Representatives,Kalu called on Igbos not to get involved in the protest.
In a viral Video made by the said Kalu, he called on the Igbo people not to participate in the exercise, even when he described them and their businesses as major targets.
