The Ihiteowerri ancient kingdom in Orlu Local Government of Imo state, has faulted the report of the killer of their kinsman, Sixtus Chukwumuanya Arodiegwu by one Mr Nnaemeka Egbuaba aged 29, who was reported to have being a native of Ihiteowerri rather than from Ihioma autonomous community in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo state and widely reported in the national Dailies.
With due respect and without prejudice to this matter under investigation by the Nigerian Police, the Ihiteowerri Development Union wishes to refute and DISCLAIM the statement by the Sunrise publication and that of Sun Newspaper that the accused person came from our community, Ihiteowerri. That was a misrepresentation of fact. Rather the accused is from Ihioma in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State, while the victim is an indigene of Ihiteowerri ancient kingdom.
Consequent upon this, the Ihiteowerri Development Union (IDU), under the President – Chief Barr. B.B.C. Okereke and Secretary, Dr. Fortune Obikwere, through a jointly signed statement further unequivocally reiterate that:
l.) The investigating police have the identity of the accused.
2.) The victim Sixtus Chukwumuanya Arodiegwu was an indengene of lhiteowerri, and
3.) The accused person is from Ihioma in Orlu Local Govt. Area of Imo State.
The Ihiteowerri Development Union said that the above is to put the record straight.
Continuing, ” The Union (IDU), wishes to further state that:
*The victim, again, was an innocent struggling young man from Ihiteowerri who was tricked over by the suspect,
*Ihiteowerri citizens place a high value on the sanctity of life. They are hard-working, peace-loving, law-abiding, very enlightened and highly educated. They are culturally advanced, as can be attested through the recognition of their citizens as Cultural Ambassadors in USA, Europe, Asia, Middle East.
- Ihiteowerri is a peaceful agrarian community, whose indigenes engage in trading, yam and fish farming as a means of livelihood,
*Ihiteowerri citizens are not criminally-minded and do not indulge in criminal activities to survive . They always demonstrate their loyalty to the Authorities, whether at Local, State or Federal level,
- The Eze Ihiteowerri is one of the oldest traditional institutions in Igboland. The current Eze is an urbane gentleman – visibly intelligent, and popularly loved by his subjects.
*The Eze of Ihiteowerri, IGWE IV, and OBI XIX is one of the oldest monarchs in Igbo land, a peace loving man, and a crusader of Rule of Law.
