The real reason why Paris Saint Germain lost the World Cup to Chelsea has been revealed by the club’s president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

According to Al-Khelaifi, player fatigue was a key reason behind the club’s 3-0 defeat to Chelsea in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup final on Sunday night.

Recall that the Club World Cup final, which took place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, United States, on Sunday, ended in bitter disappointment for the French giants as they failed to secure what would have been their fifth trophy in a historic season.

Though clearly disappointed, Al-Khelaifi insisted that the season which has been quite demanding had affected his trusted squad.

Speaking he said; “Congratulations to Chelsea. They deserved their victory,” he told PSG’s official website. “We wanted to win this Club World Cup, but it’s difficult. The players gave their all. They were tired. We had a great season, the best in the club’s history.”

We’re proud of the players and this defeat is good for us, for next season. We have to be humble. We’re the youngest team in the competition.”
Chelsea’s win marks their second Club World Cup title, solidifying their resurgence under manager Enzo Maresca.”
