On Sunday 19th December 2022, Hoodlums reportedly set ablaze a section of the Owerri Magistrate’s Court, Imo State.
Meanwhile, this is coming barely 24 hours after the Orlu High Court was also set ablaze by suspected hoodlums.
According to earlier report, magistrate’s court, which is located at the heart of the state capital, was housing the Owerri High Court and it was learnt that sensitive court materials and documents, including files, were burnt.
However, the police spokesperson for the command where the incident happened, Micheal Abattam has said the act was not committed by hoodlums.
According to Abattam; “It is suspected that the section got burnt because of a fault.
“The court buildings were not affected. The areas affected are a restaurant and a place where exhibits are kept. Investigations will reveal the actual thing that happened.”
