Call to srap the National Assembly has re echoed as The African Action Congress (AAC) has backed the proposal.
According to the party Nigeria needs to adopt a unicameral legislative system of government.
The AAC stated this while supporting the views of ab economic analyst, Mr Kalu Aja, who proposed abolishing both the Senate and the House of Representatives to reduce costs for Nigerians.
The AAC party said the idea was first made known to Nigerian citizens by the party and Omoyele Sowore, its presidential candidate during the electioneering period in 2019, adding that it was high time for Nigeria to embrace a system that would stop making politics a life career.
According to party, “AAC was the only party courageous enough to campaign with this idea since 2019. Not only did we campaign for a unicameral legislative system, we also suggested that the House of Reps be made part-time.

“Imagine a Dr (Bukola) Saraki attending to patients from Monday to Thursday, to then do law-making on Friday/Saturday,” the party wrote.
Saraki is a medical doctor and a former Senate President.
In May 2022, Sowore also noted that the operation of a bicameral legislative system was too expensive for a country like Nigeria.

Therefore, he vowed to abolish the Senate and divert the public resources saved from there to the education sector of the country, if elected.the party said
