:Move To Adopt “ANIM ” :Anambra, Others Reject Orlu.
In a bid to ensure that the People of the South East actualize their dream of a new State to balance the imbalance in Nigeria, Stakeholders in Imo have begun to consider the change of the proposed Orlu as a name for the proposed State.
This however followed the agitation of the Local Governments in Anambra who are included in the new State.
Recall that the Member representing Ideato Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Ikenga Ugochinyere Imo amongst other House of Representatives members had few days ago, moved a motion, seeking the the creation of an additional State in the South East, the Orlu State.
The Orlu State which according to the Lawmakers would consist of the Twelve Local Governments of Orlu Zone with other Local Governments from Anambra State would balance the imbalance in Nigeria.
The said bill which however passed it’s first reading in the House of Representatives was graced with varying reactions.
While majority of Imo People welcomed the idea, certain persons from Anambra vehemently rejected the move.
The Representatives as well as the leaders of the Local Governments in Anambra rejected the moves on two grounds ranging from non pre information or consultation before the bill was passed and the acronym, Orlu State which according to them made the move an Orlu issue and thing.
In a bid therefore to nip in the bud this agitation which is capable of disrupting the moves of getting the new State, Lead gathered that certain Stakeholders in Imo, majorly from Orlu Zone have begun to speak with the Representatives to adopt the former acronym” ANIM” as a name for the new State.
In the view of the said Stakeholders, the name, “ANIM”which connotes Anambra and Imo is more sailable and all in compassing than the Orlu State as a name.
Speaking to Lead Express, a stakeholder in Imo and Orlu in particular hinted that Orlu people together with the leaders of the concerned Local Governments in Anambra have concluded arrangements to present the name” ANIM ” to their members at the National Assembly, particularly Senator Osita Izunaso who according to him was the first person to start this move of creation of a new State from Imo and part of Anambra State.
According to the Speaker, Ikenga Ugochinyere Imo would have met with Izunaso who according to him is his senior in the legislative business as well as the first person to start the process of Orlu creation for guidance and advice.
