To improve governance in Imo State, Imolites have been urged to fully support the Champion of Shared Prosperity Government, Governor Hope Uzodimma, as he drives the Second Tenure Vehicle of the state.

This urge was made by Chaplain, Government House Chaplaincy, Rev. Fr. Alaribe Gilbert, in an interview with journalists at Government House Owerri, on Sunday, after a Eucharistic Celebration.

Alaribe hinted that with collective effort, the Governor and those he will appoint to work with him would defiantly improve democracy thereby advance social development and economic prosperity which will immensely benefit all citizens and in turn obliterate insecurity which he regretted cause underdevelopment in the society.

He pointed out that insecurity has been a nightmare in Imo State and other parts of Nigeria, disclosing that no leader can “excel in the current spate of insecurity in Imo State and all over the country. So, we cannot be expecting the leaders to change the face of our country. We bulk them down with distraction. Yes, insecurity is a distraction. It is causing us lives, hardships, pains and sufferings”.

While urging Governor Hope Uzodimma to improve the things he did well and the ones he needs to get started, Alaribe prayed to God to continue to imbue him with more wisdom and strength to enable the Governor perform efficiently and amazingly to the goodness of the people and to the glory of God who he praised for His mercy and kindness on the state.

On Lenting Period, the Chaplain reminded Christians to often be concerned in the things of God, show solidarity to other’s cause to lessen poverty, agony and unwanted deaths.

He stressed that Ash Wednesday is a special time in the life of the Church. “Lenting Season begins with Ash Wednesday. The goal of the journey of lent is Easter Sunday. Easter Sunday is the reason for us being Christians… God can give us that life of Easter and so, as we begin the journey of life this Wednesday, we hope that our society can be renewed – that every Imolite undertakes that journey of renewal, then perhaps we can change the face of our state because Imo is largely a Christian State”.

Alaribe decried the high inflation and economic meltdown in Nigeria which he said put the country in difficult situation, calling on the leaders and the led to do just things to positively change the face of the country.
