The four tax reform bills that were sent to the National Assembly in October 2024 for third reading have been passed by The House of Representative on Tuesday, 18 of March.

Recall that the the bills had previously been considered and approved by the House Committee on Finance, which worked on the bills and reviewed submissions from Nigerians.

Meanwhile,  the passing of the  bill have sparked significant controversy, particularly among Northern leaders, the Nigeria Governors Forum, and other interest groups, who have expressed opposition to some of the provisions. Despite these concerns, the bills have now been passed, making it possible for  their final  approval.
