Owerri, the Imo state capital, was agog last Tuesday, December 10, as persons with albinism from far and near gathered for empowerment and sensitization on skincare, education and practical support specially designed for persons living with albinism.

The event organized by The Ability Life Initiative ((TALI), a non- governmental organization,was founded by Mrs. Oprah Uzodinma – Ohaeri and Barr. Prada Ohaeri with the mission of improving the welfare of persons with disabilities .
The highlight of the event was a lecture by a constant titled, ” Albinism: value clarification” and ” “maintaining healthy skin as a person with albinism”. Following this interactive lecture was the free donation of items such as sun screens, UV- protective sleeves, lunch and transportation stipends.
The initiative of empowering persons with albinism in Imo state by the founders of TALI is another milestone following their successful outings in Abuja and other parts of the country., addressing issues specially affecting persons with albinism.
Among several encomiums poured on the founders of The Ability Life Initiative (TALI), Dr(Mrs) Nonye Dorathy Edomobi(Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs) and Dr. Samuelson Emehibe( Special Adviser to the governor on Special Citizens)highlighted the importance of such initiative in addressing the unique needs of persons with albinism, praising TALI”s efforts in forstering inclusivity and support to vulnerable persons in the state.
