President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of a revised list of Governing Councils and Boards for federal universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.

This decision aims to ensure the effective management of Nigerian tertiary institutions across the country.

The Permanent Secretary, General Services, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Nnamdi Mbaeri, announced the appointments in a statement on June 14, 2024.

The list includes 51 federal universities, 24 federal colleges of education, and 37 federal polytechnics.

Among those appointed are notable figures from Imo State, including Hon. Princess Christina Eligwe-ude, a former Special Adviser to the Imo state government and 2019 and 2023 APC aspirant for the Orlu, Orsu, Oru East Federal Constituency, who has been appointed as a Member of the Governing Board of the Federal College of Education, Iwo, Osun State.

Others appointed include Amb. Greg Mbadiwe, Chairman Governing Board of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, and Rt. Hon Acho Ihim, Chairman Governing Board of Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Ebonyi State.

Each governing council has five members, including a chairman. A total of 560 individuals have been appointed by the President to serve on these governing councils, ensuring the effective management and governance of Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.
