The chairman, Umudim Ikeduru Secondary School Alumni Association, CSP Austin Nwosu has encouraged the members of the association to assist the association to achieve its noble objectives. CSP Nwosu gave the encouragement in an interview with our reporter on the occasion of the reunion organized by the association held recently at Links Hotel, opposite Imo State House of Assembly complex, Owerri. He noted that the reunion is an annual event in which they felicitate with one another and deliberate on how to help the school overcome its challenges, adding that part of the reasons for their gathering was to synergize on how to celebrate the golden jubilee of the school in 2026 as it is 48 years in existence and appreciated the principal of the school, Mrs Victoria Emereole and some staff for being present in the reunion event. The chairman who is of the pioneer set (1981) recounted the achievements of the association to the school and to individual members to include sponsorship of inter-house sports, donations for specific projects in the school and provision of learning materials like black board among others depending on what the school needs. He also expressed dismay over the challenges facing the association which include non challant attitude of many members of the association, dispersion of the members which makes it difficult for them to meet because of the security situation of the school as it is not fenced. CSP Nwosu reminded the students of the school that the alumni set a high standard which they should embrace and sustain and advised them to focus their attention to their studies to come out successfully. In his remarks, a member of the Board of Trustees, BOT, Engr Chinaka Ekeanyanwu expressed the determination of the association to ensure positive development of the school. Engr Ekeanyanwu also recalled that last year, the association participated in the school inter-house sports event and has made other reasonable contributions towards the development of the school, adding that with the growth of the association membership, they will give more tangible things to the school to feel the impact of the alumni. The BOT member who is also of the 1982 set identified the chairman of the association, CSP Austin Nwosu as a retired fine policeman of polished character with a difference and with intellectual capacity, coupled with the zeal to give. Engr Ekeanyanwu maintained that the association new executive is piloting the affairs of the association well, stressing that they are blessed to have CSP Nwosu as their chairman.
