Uncertainty Over Ezeship Stool of Ndegwu as Group Drags Ojinnaka to IMHA
A group under the aegis of Ndegwu Concerned Citizens/Stakeholders has petitioned the Imo State House of Assembly over what they described as a purported election of Nze Nicholas Ojinaka as the Eze-elect of the Community.
The petition which was read on the floor of the Chamber by the member representing Ngor Okpala State Constituency Hon. Obinna Eguh on Thursday 5th December, 2024. The group among other things opposed the status of Nze Nicholas Ojinaka (Ishiuba), who has been named as the Eze-elect of Ndegwu Community in Owerri West Local Government Area of the State.
Hon. Obinna Egu who informed the House that the group from Community had submitted the petition, urging the state government to stop Nze Ojinaka from parading himself as the Eze-elect.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon.Chike Olemgbe, Member representing Ihitte Uboma State Constituency, after considering the petition referred it the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and Autonomous Community to Investigate and report back on the next adjourned date, Tuesday 10th December, 2024.
Hon. Okey Udeze, Member representing Ideato North State Constituency is the Chairman of the standing Committee.
