Uzodinma finally moves to reward loyalty, elevates Onuegbu to commissioner
…Igwe Umuna Describes Appointment as Round Peg in a Round Hole.
Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma has at last, moved to reward loyalty, dedication and performance as Enyinna Onuegbu, his Chief Political Adviser and Head of Political beareau has been elevated to the post of Commissioner, a position which the Governor has been hailed for.
This is even as the Traditional Ruler of Umuna Autonomous Community, HRM Eze Dr Douglas Okwara described the appointment as a round peg in a round hole.
Okwarachukwu who is presently the Chairman Association of South East Christian Traditional Rulers of Nigeria ( AOCTRON) revealed this in Owerri upon his arrival from Lagos last Wednesday.
The Monarch who used the medium to commend the Governor for rewarding what he described as absolute loyalty and performance revealed that Onuegbu would perform creditably in any Ministry he is posted to.
Investigations carried out by Lead revealed that Onuegbu, a legal practitioner of many years standing was at the forefront of Uzodinma’s Governorship election campaigns in 2019.
In the year 2020, Governor Uzodinma appointed Onuegbu Commissioner for Lands and after a while,his appointment was terminated .
For about two years, Onuegbu was not in the Government as an Appointee but was still following the Governor around and defending the policies of the State Government at all times.
At certain points, the said Onuegbu was criticised and mocked by opposition on the grounds that he was defending a Government that denied him appointment amongst Others yet he was not deterred rather stood behind the Government and the Governor.
Towards the end of the first tenure of the Governor, the Governor who still believed in his credibility, performance and loyalty appointed him Chief Political Adviser and Head of Political Bureau, a position which in the eyes of Politicians was smaller and lesser than commissioner but Onuegbu who was eager and solely interested in helping the Governor achieve his laudable plans for Imo People took the position with equanimity of mind has today contributed immensely to good of the State Government.
Speaking to the Press after his screening by the State House of Assembly, Onuegbu however thanked the Governor who he described as his boss promising to remain Committed to the progress of the State Government.
