Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma has marched word with action as the popular Imo International Convention Centre has been demolished.
The Governor had during the Imo Stakeholders meeting held few weeks ago promised to demolish the said Building which has served as eye sour to the public.
According to Uzodinma, his administration would build another event center as a replacement and that would be of international standard. The citizens of Imo State looked in bewilderment as they woke up yesterday only to see rampaging Earth- moving equipment bringing down the remains of collapsed Imo International Conventional Center(IICC) at the Ware House junction in Owerri,Imo State capital.
You may recall the IICC Conference center is one of those legacy projects advertised by the past administration of Governor Rochas Okorocha in Imo state but, caved in and collapsed shortly after the tenure of the Ideato born Politician and Senator representing Orlu zone in the nation’s senate chamber.
According to source, the demolished IICC is said to have gulped over two billion Naira of the state resources but, was later found to have failed Integrity test conducted by Professional Engineers.
Meanwhile, some citizens of the state were of the agreement that the present administration would have continued with her other of her projects especially the various road connecting communities and local government areas across the state instead of erecting another center.
