According to Richard KAUFFMAN a social scientists of a Madeval England once wrote about death, ” Death as a phenomenon does not bring any type of Joy or happiness to any family once it strikes. Hence it is referred to as, ‘ The unwanted visitor.’

To the ordinary mind in general, no family ever celebrate this misterious thing once it has come to visit family.

But the gravity of pain and agony which it leaves on its trail varies from the circumstances of the deceased age and circumstances. But more often than not, the gravity of agony and lamentation it leaves in any family varies from the age of the deceased and the circumstances of the death. In any event, it leaves a sour taste in the mouth of every family it visited and more often a heart break situation and lamentation .

This is exactly what happened when this unwanted visitor made appearance in the innocus family of DR. Benjamin Uzoma Alozie , on Monday 17th October 2022 to take away the amiable wife Agnes Chinyere Alozie.

DR. Benjamin Uzoma Alozie, a renowned pediatrics, a UI trained medical practitioner was a government house medical practitioner under Achike Udenwa for many years. He is a very calm person, noiseless, he is a refined gentle man of a Scottish gentry. Indeed those who know him in Imo State society could even chanced him without knowing that he is indeed DR. Alozie, then a government house medical Doctor. A soft spoken human being is a person with alluring personality. Fortunately for him, he was lucky in marriage as he was married to Agnes Chinyere Alozie a native of Isiukwuato. After obtaining sound Education from different institutions, after being employed in the government service, Agnes Chinyere Alozie grew from the ranks in government services. She was re- instated into the HMB as an Administrative Officer. She later went back to the UNN for Post Graduate Diploma Course in Public Administration and Local Government (PALG) in 1992. She also has an MPA in ‘ Personnel Management ‘ from the NOUN in 2011. In between she had been the Head of Administration of General Hospitals, Owerri and Aboh Mbaise.

She transferred to the Civil Service in 2005 and was posted to the Ministry of Education where she was sent to be the Secretary of the ‘ Scholarship Board ‘. While there like the Biblical Joseph, the Lord was with her and she brought back to life a moribund important Agency of Government. Beneficiaries of the scholarship awards that were many years in arrears of their funds had them released and paid. There were other innovations she brought to bear in the scholarship award programme with the approval of the government but their implementation was truncated by the new government in power.

She moved over to the Local Government Services Commission (LGSC) in 2012 as ‘ Acting Director of Training ‘ . Having bèen promoted to the rank of a Deputy Director, she was by 2014, transferred to the a newly created Ministry of Transport and Tourism as the Acting Director of the Administration and also doubled as the Acting Permanent Secretary for many months before a supervising Permanent Secretary was posted to oversee the Ministry. It was time to say Bye, and she had a meritorious retirement from the Civil Service on 2nd June, 2015 after the mandatory thirty five years of Service. She was also a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Administrators.

Besides as a woman endowed with many qualities, using her God given acumen, She exploded in all her activities both in public and domestic affairs. The cummulative effect was that she attracted to her self in both private and public activities. Coming from the Roman Catholic background, she quickly assimilated the Anglican doctrine, joined the EFAC and the Children’s Ministry (ACM) as a Teacher. Her exemplary adherence to the word of God and life endeared her to her co- teachers that she was elected President of the ACM teachers of St Mark’s Anglican Church, Amakaohia, a Post she held from 2012 to 2020. She was also a staunch member of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International ( FGBMFI) with her husband.

She was the leader of the the Ladies of the Fellowship (LOTF) with the husband as the ‘ Chapter President’ of the Orlu Road Chapter for many years. In home front, she was the Vice president of the HOME and ABROAD WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION from 1998- 2006 and President from 2007- 2020. She was active in the Town Union Women’s Meeting and held various posts within the executive. She was decorated with many awards in the Church including ‘ AMBASSADOR FOR CHRIST ‘ and a UNIQUE COUPLE award by the ACFF of St. Mark’s Amakaohia in 2021. In 2007, she visited the HOLY LAND and got qualified for the tittle – JP, the same year she was investitures a ‘ Lady of the Knighthood of St. Christopher’ by the Lord Bishop of Owerri Diocese.

Thus addressing the Mammoth Congregation at St. Simon’s Anglican church, Ugirike, on Thursday, December 8th,202, The Diocese Bishop of Ikeduru Rt. Rev. Emmanuel C. Maduwike extolled the outstanding qualities of Agnes Chinyere Alozie which was hinged on total commitment to Christian values.

He also asked the Congregation to make Christian values their stepping stones and bed rock of their life.

Indeed, the large crowd of mourners was unbelievable as people came from all wards of life to honour this Amazon of Christian life and Ambassador of Christ and a mother per excellent who helped her husband to build a Christian and disciplined family.

On the side of entertainment, the whole arrangement was well packaged to the effect that there was a lot to go round for ever increasing guests.

Indeed, many believe that Agnes Chinyere Alozie lived a meaningful life and died a meaningful death, though only at 62 and her burial ceremony could be discribed as a festival of a sort. What an Ambassador of Christ and what a Lady of eminence.
