… PG, TPM, Others Insist on Election
…Call For Govt’s Intervention.
What can best be described as danger looms in Amike Autonomous Community in Orlu LGA following a letter signed by Engr Ukwuoma Chidoziem which contains amongst others, the appointment of a youth leader for Amike Autonomous Community as against expectations and plans already put in place for the election of the Community by Amike Autonomous Community.
Investigation carried out by Lead Express revealed that the Youths of the area have vowed not to allow the appointee to carry out the duty on the grounds that the said ppointment was contrary to the resolution of the people to have an election
Speaking to Lead Express, a Youth who gave his name as Comrade Chuks revealead that the youths have concluded arrangements to stop the said Appointee to carry out the function in Amike adding that the Youths stand and await for the election as planned
In an interview with the Traditional Prime Minister of the Community, High Chief Uche Emenalo, he expressed disappointment over what he described as a purported appointment by a Supervisory Councillor adding that Amike has zoned the said seat to zone A and already two Aspirants are out for the seat and upon election, any one that emerges would serve as the Youth leader of the Community.
The Traditional Prime Minister who used the forum to call on the Executive Chairman of Orlu LGA, Chris Mbarie to caution those working under him to avoid crisis in Amike made it clear that Councillor and Youth leader would not come from one Zone hence the ceeding of the office of the Youths leader to Zone A.
When contacted to get his own view on the issue, the Traditional ruler of Amike Autonomous Community, HRH, Eze Agbayim declined comment.
Speaking to Lead Express, one of the Aspirants, Prince Mark Amajiri said he was not aware of any letter, appointing someone as the Youths leader for Amike while all the Aspirants, himself inclusive were waiting for the election.
In his submission, another Aspirant to the said seat, Comrade Nna Athony ( Akwaja ahuogu) appealed to the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma to wade in and ensure that those he described as trouble makers do not turn the peaceful Community into a theatre of crisis by appointing for the Community a Youth Leader as against planned and proposed election by all the people of Amike.
In his speech to Lead,,one of the leaders of the Amike Autonomous Community who gave his name as Chief Ikeoha called on the Chairman of the Orlu Local Government to toe the line of Amike by conducting election for the office of the Youth Leader adding that Amike has been known for peace hence crisis all in the name of Youths leader appointment won’t be a good thing for the Community.
Describing the purported letter as non official which never emanated from the Local Government, the President General of the Amike, Mr Eugene Udogu charged the ommunity to ignore it pointing out that Amike has no issue concerning the office of the Youth President hence Local Government has no basis to issue the purported letter.
He however revealed that the said seat has been zoned to Zone A part of Amike and two persons are contesting for it of which one would emerge at the conclusion.
