Jubilation in Owerri as Senator Representing Imo West at the National Assembly, Senator Osita Bonaventure Izunaso had over the weekend marked his 59 years birthday.
The event which took place in Owerri had many of the persons with disabilities empowered while Twenty inmates released from Owerri Correctional center.
Addressing the inmates as well as the Management of the Correctional Center Chief Osita Izunaso revealed that his actions were part of his agreement with God that less Privileged members of the society must receive Succour from him .
Senator Izunaso, a two time member of the Red Chambers and former House of Representatives member who turned 59 years on October 30th. 2025 stated that his second daughter ,Cassy Izunaso ,a legal practitioner requested that this year’s birthday Ceremonies should include jail delivery and care for the less Privileged members of the state hence the activities.
It would be recalled that the distinguished Senator’s penchant for less Privileged led to the formation of KPAKPANDO FOUNDATION by Senator Osita Izunaso twenty years ago.
The foundation has been involved in sponsorship and payments of educational fees, Skills acquisition of physically of Persons with disabilities across Nigeria.
In his welcome speech , the Correctional Center Comtroller for Owerri, Mike O. Okorie noted that the Federal government decision of setting up Correctional Services is basically to reform, while infusing discipline onto inmates for a better society at large.
Okorie who observed Senator Osita Izunaso’s empathy lauded him for Coming to share the burden of those who were given options of Fine as bail .
He used the Opportunity to appeal to well meaning individuals to compliment efforts of the government in providing functional facilities that are used in the training and reformation of the students therein.
In his words, ” Government’s resolve to impact meaningful skills onto inmates is aimed at improving their fortunes after their stay in the Correctional Services.”
The Imo West Senator who was accompanied on the Visit by his traditional Ruler, HRH Eze Victor Ogwurumba, and many other Leaders such as Chief Irobi Uchenna, Chief Takana Biaduo , Hon. Barrister Robert Okwuego amongst others were entertained by beautiful musical performances by inmates of Owerri Correctional Center
