It was celebration of life well lived on earth last Friday as the body of the late traditional ruler of Eziama Obiato Ancient kingdom in Mbaitoli Local Government Area, Late Eze Sir Dennis Nwaba JP (Obinyere of Eziama Obiato) was laid to rest in his home town, Ezioha Eziama Obiato.
The burial reception ceremony which took place at the Cathedral of the Transfiguration of Our Lord, CATOL, Owerri was well attended by people from all walks of life, traditional rulers in Mbaitoli, Imo State and beyond, the clergy,, clubs and associations members of the judiciary and the public.
In his tribute to his late father, the fourth son of the deceased, Barr Justice Nwaba identified his late father as a perfect man, a man whom he thrived to emulate, pointing out that he learnt early in life to work hard because he thought it was the only way he could impress his father.
According to Barr Nwaba, “Taking the first position in my class was a feat. I never allowed to slip off because he celebrated my success as if nothing else mattered. I cherished how he beamed with pride over my results. His unwavering support and encouragement meant the world to me. He was my strength and comfort, my pride, my hero, my mentor and my guide. Though I grieved when he passed on that Monday morning, I was somehow relieved that he spent his last moment with me and I was right there and saw him pass on peacefully”.
He thanked God that his late father lived a fulfilled life, adding that he was a devoted Christian and believed strongly that God whom he served will give him eternal rest.
Prince Edward Chukwujindu Nwaba thanked God for giving them a great man, a great visionary, a man of compassion, uncommon intellect, courage and wisdom to be their father, stressing that he was the greatest gift of all, the giant, the pillar of the family who led with excellence and taught his children to be great citizens of the world, to be compassionate, and to love and worship God and prayed God is grant his soul eternal rest.
In an interview with newsmen on the occasion, the first daughter of the deceased, Hon Justice Evelyn Nmasinulo Anyadike identified the burial ceremony as celebration of life of an icon, a good man, a peaceful man who lived a fulfilled life on earth and died at 96 years.
Hon Justice Anyadike also described his late father as a very caring man who embraced everyone no matter their status, a knight of St Christopher who taught Jesus all the way and brought his children in a Christian way, noting that he saw his grand children and great grand children, a man of the people, a first class teacher, a community man who had many in his scholarship and role model.
“I remember him for his honesty, peaceful life, sincerity to everyone without discrimination, a caring man to his wife and a caring father to his children, a very good man who loved all, a great nan whose greatness was achieved through humility, dedication and selfless service to God and humanity and believed so much in peace, justice, equity and good conscience and used uprightness to succeed in life”, he emphasized.
Also speaking, the first son of the late monarch, Prince Foster Nwaba also disclosed that the deceased was widely read and widely respected, noting that he carried his accomplishment with humility.
He maintained that his late father was a man of strength and integrity, a generous, sincere man whose professional excellence made him highly sought after across sectors, a true leader, principled, focused and inspiring, a blend of intellect and charisma, a kind hearted man, a devoted christian and a philanthropist who made much sacrifice for the good of humanity.
Prince Nwaba further revealed that the massive turnout of dignitaries and people from all walks of life to his burial ceremony is a testament to what the deceased stood for, stressing that he was a very hard-working father who struggled relentlessly to train his children to become responsible in life and promised that he and his siblings will uphold his legacy of selfless service to humanity, encouraging all to take solace in the fact that he lived a well fulfilled life on earth.
He expressed dismay that they are going to miss all his virtues, taking solace in the fact that he is resting on the bossom of God and prayed God to grant his soul eternal rest.
Also speaking, a former Majority Leader and former member that represented Owerri Municipal Council state constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Lugard Osuji pointed out that Late Eze Nwaba impacted positively on the lives of many in society and prayed God to grant his soul eternal rest.
