Rainy Season: Fear Grips Okuku Community Over Impassable Roads, Residents Appeal For Gov’s Intervention

Ahead of rainy season, the Indigenes as well as Strangers in Okuku Community of Owerri West have called on the Imo State Governor to extend hands of fellowship to the People.
Investigation carried out by Lead revealed that the only Road leading to the Community has remained impassable for ages despite it’s importance both to the Government and individuals.
According to our reporter, the road in question is the only major road that connects to the World bank through Umuguma in Owerri West upto Porhacourt Road.
This Road as gathered by Lead cuts across Okuku and Ohaji Egbema in Orlu Zone.
Speaking to Lead Express, one of the natives of the Okuku Community who gave his name as Chief Uzoma revealed that the bad state of the Road has affected all aspects of the lives of the residents particularly farming.
According to him, Okuku Community is blessed with good soil and majority of them are pre dominantly farmers but given the State of the Road which connects the farmers and Markets , the farmers now find it difficult to go to farms.
Chief Uzoma who expressed confidence on the determination of the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma to fix all the major Roads in Imo made it clear that if the Governor gets to know about the state of this Okuku Road that he would be left with no option than to fix it.
