2027: Nwachukwu turns lone voice in wildernes, calls on Owerri zone again to forego charter of equity

…Insists on alliance with Okigwe.

Retired banker and politician, Chief Mike Nwachukwu appears to have become a lonely voice in the Wilderness, appealing on his brothers from Owerri Zone to let go, the principle of Imo Charter of equity which according to him has rested for good.
This is even as he emphasised the importance of consulting the people of Okigwe as well as Orlu zone ,stressing that Owerri Zone alone would not be able to make a headway in the forthcoming election.
Mike Nwachukwu popularly known and addressed as “Mpi dike ” revealed this in a statement titled ” Now that Imo Charter Of Equity has officially been rested” and made available to Lead Express.
Recall that Nwachukwu had few months ago, called on the Owerri People to jettison that Imo Charter of equity which according to has died and would be officially buried in the 2027 Governorship election, a publication which generated mixed reactions across Imo.
The statement reads
“Now THAT IMO CHARTER OF EQUITY HAS BEEN OFFICIALLY RESTED: AN OPEN LETTER TO NDE OWERRI ZONE

I am sure we have all seen and read the extract of the radio interview of The Honorable Commissioner for Information and Strategy in response to the avalanche of media war as a result of the ‘misrepresentation’ of the Governor’s speech when he received a section of Owerri Zone political leadership in his office.

Hon. Declan Emelumba, the Honorable Commissioner for Information and Strategy in the trending radio interview unambiguously addressed the burning 🔥 issue of Imo Charter of Equity as follows:

  1. The Charter of Equity is not a law and, therefore, is not legally enforceable.
  2. In 2023, when the Charter of Equity was introduced with the principle that no zone should contest against the Orlu zone, it was not followed.

Owerri zone fielded a candidate under the PDP, while Okigwe zone did the same under the Labour Party.

  1. Despite the existence of the Charter of Equity, the PDP candidate still challenged the election results up to the Supreme Court.
  2. Since the Charter of Equity did not hold in 2023, there is no reason to expect it to be followed in 2027.

Hon. Emelumba emphasized that the best way to maintain political stability is to ensure that the most qualified candidate emerges, regardless of their zone.

The next thing “some of us” will tell us now is that he was not authorised by his “Oga” to say what he said.

Fine! Whether authorized by his Oga or not, can anyone fault his line of argument?

Meanwhile, don’t forget he is our Commissioner for Information and
Strategy. Say whatever you like, he has delivered the official information to us unadulterated.

Isn’t it time we wake up from our VERY DEEP SLUMBER and realise that the Imo Charter of Equity (2.0) which was deployed for the purpose of the 2023 Governorship Election is now rested the way Imo Charter of Equity (1.0) was inadvertently and mischeviously rested in 2011?

Isn’t it time we take our destiny in our own palms?

I have variously been maligned and castigated mostly by our people because of the position I have been advocating on this matter, but it does not matter.

What matters is that we eventually get it right and not find ourselves in a position where we will be biting our fingers and saying “chai! If only we had listened to Mpi Dike and taken him seriously!

AND SO LET ME SAY IT AGAIN NDE EBEKEANYI!

Our redemption, if we are really interested in ever tasting the governorship position again, not by chance and not by lucky dip, lies in doing three things:

  1. Shove the so-called Imo Charter of Equity (2.0) right under our respective beds. If we take it off the table some of those who are now jockeying for the position in the believe that they will be the annointed candidate of the Governor because of “their imagined” close relationship with him will quietly clear of the way for the emergence of very credible aspirants!
  2. From the emergent credible aspirants, we align and file behind the one who has a strong and resilent Political Reach / Network across the length and breadth of the 305 Electoral Wards in Imo State as well as the resources to prosecute the venture.
  3. Take active steps to ensure that Owerri Zone candidates secure the ticket of the other key 🔑 political parties – existing and emergent, that will most probably participate in the election.
  4. Strategically engage Okigwe Zone in a STRUCTURED / FORMAL Manner (not the way we are going about it now) so that we and them can reconcile our differences since they clearly have their own agenda and we CANNOT continue to pretend like that ostrich that buried its head in the sand, thinking that nobody is seeing it. Such a pretense will continue to amount to lying to ourselves.

What am I saying! What I am saying is that for us to make any meaningful and strategic headway, we must work on being on the same page with nde Okigwe Zone and together approach nde Orlu Zone.

I had in my previous writings on the subject presented to us a TEMPLATE for such an engagement.

Let us take a second look at that template. If it’s ok, you adopt it. If it’s not, feel free to tinker it as we may find suitable.

The Hon. Commissioner has clearly confirmed that the train has left the station and Orlu zone as usual will battle for the trophy whether we like it or not.

They cannot be persuaded otherwise.

They are poised at clinching the trophy again because the yam and the knife are firmly in their hands.

A stitch in time they say, saves nine.

Please accept the assurances of my esteemed regards.

Thank you.
