The Imo State Government, through the Ministry of Tourism, Hospitality and Culture, has officially endorsed the upcoming 3rd International Students Film Festival (ISFF) Owerri 2025, tagged “The Legacy Edition.”

In an endorsement letter signed on behalf of the Honourable Commissioner, the Ministry expressed its full support for the event being organized by Imo State University (IMSU) under the leadership of Prof. Gloria Ernest-Samuel, Professor of Media and Film Studies and Chairperson of the Local Organizing Committee for ISFF 2025.

According to the Ministry, the endorsement was on the behest that it aligns with the vision of His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, GSSRS, Governor of Imo State, to promote creativity, culture, tourism, and hospitality within the state. The statement emphasized that the film festival supports the ministry’s mandate to encourage film production and attract increased tourist traffic to Imo through the creative industry.
“This programme is in tandem with the vision of His Excellency, the Governor of Imo State, as well as the mandate of the Ministry to encourage all aspects of creativity, including film making, film production, and tourism promotion,” the letter stated.

The Ministry also described the festival as a valuable platform for talent discovery and development, aligning with the state government’s broader initiative on youth empowerment and creative engagement, as exemplified by the creation of the Ministry of Youth Development and Talent Hunt.

The endorsement reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing support to ensure the successful hosting of the 2025 edition of the festival in Owerri.

The International Students Film Festival (ISFF) is an annual event that brings together young filmmakers, media scholars, and creative talents from within and outside Nigeria to celebrate innovation, culture, and storytelling through film. The 2025 edition, themed “Legacy,” promises to spotlight the next generation of filmmakers and creative entrepreneurs, solidifying Imo State’s place as a hub for cultural and creative excellence.
