A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Orlu Local Government Area and former Leader of the Orlu Legislative Council, Hon. Gozie Nwagba, has lauded Governor Hope Uzodimma for what he described as a “revolutionary transformation” currently unfolding across Imo State. Nwagba stated that the Governor’s determination to ensure uninterrupted power supply and create massive youth employment marks a historic milestone in the state’s development journey.

Speaking to journalists in Orlu recently, Hon. Nwagba said that the Governor’s Light-Up Imo Project has moved from vision to reality, with the near completion of the Egbema Power Plant and the ongoing installation of distribution lines across the state. According to him, these efforts will not only light up homes and streets but also energize industries, small businesses, and digital enterprises, thereby unlocking a new era of prosperity for Imo people.

“The Light-Up Imo Project is not just about power; it is about powering dreams, industries, and innovation,” Nwagba declared. “Governor Uzodimma is laying the foundation for a future where Imo State will become self-sufficient in energy supply and serve as an industrial hub for the South East. This is unprecedented in our history,” he added.

Hon. Nwagba noted that with the power sector revolution already taking shape, the Governor is simultaneously driving a human capital revolution through the Skill-Up Imo Project, an initiative that has empowered over 50,000 young people with digital and entrepreneurial skills. He said the project’s Third Cohort graduation marks a major leap in the state’s vision to make its youths globally competitive and economically independent.

He emphasized that by training tens of thousands of young Imolites in digital technology, artificial intelligence, robotics, and other emerging sectors, Governor Uzodimma is not just solving unemployment but is also positioning Imo as a future-ready economy. “With these youths, we are now exporting skills instead of lamenting job scarcity,” Nwagba stated.

The former council leader further observed that the synergy between the Light-Up Imo Project and the Skill-Up Imo initiative will create a self-sustaining development cycle, where reliable power supply fuels innovation, startups, and industries, while skilled youths drive productivity and technological advancement. “The Governor has struck the right balance between infrastructure and human capacity development,” he said.

Nwagba also urged Imo people to rally behind the Governor, describing him as a visionary leader who understands the dynamics of modern governance. “Governor Uzodimma’s projects are futuristic. They are not for political showmanship but for genuine transformation. He is rewriting the story of development in Imo State,” Nwagba stressed.

He concluded by expressing optimism that when the Egbema Power Plant is fully operational, with the Skill-Up Imo graduates establishing and expanding their businesses, the multiplier effect on the state’s economy will be unprecedented. “The Hope Uzodimma era will be remembered as the dawn of economic revolution in Imo,” he enthused.
